What You’ll Find

Whiterocks is a long sandy beach stretching from Portrush East Strand towards the dramatic cliffs below Dunluce Castle.

The soft white limestone cliffs have been shaped by the sea over hundreds of years, creating arches, caves and unusual rock formations. These make the beach feel like a proper adventure for kids who love exploring.

There is plenty of space for building sandcastles, playing games, paddling and taking a long family walk along the shore.

The beach is also popular with surfers, bodyboarders and other watersports enthusiasts. RNLI lifeguards usually patrol during the summer season, but always check the flags and follow their advice before entering the water.

Take extra care around the caves and cliffs, particularly when the tide is coming in, as sections of the beach can become cut off.

For the Grown Ups

There isn’t a cafĆ© directly on Whiterocks Beach, so bring drinks and snacks with you.

Portrush town centre is only a short drive away and has plenty of cafƩs, restaurants and ice-cream shops if you want to extend your family day out.
