What You’ll Find

Dundrum Castle sits high above the village and dates back to around the 12th century.

The kids can explore the castle ruins, walk through the old gateways and imagine what life would have been like when the castle was still in use.

The large circular keep is the main feature, and you can climb the narrow stone staircase inside. From the top, you are rewarded with incredible views over Dundrum Bay, the surrounding countryside and the Mourne Mountains.

The ground is steep and uneven in places, so younger children will need close supervision.

The Free Kids’ Cabin

Do not miss the brilliant little kids’ cabin beside the castle.

It is completely free for children to use and gives them another little place to play during your visit. It is such a lovely addition and helps turn a quick castle stop into a bigger family adventure.

For the Grown Ups

There is no cafƩ at the castle, but Dundrum village has several cafƩs, restaurants and places to pick up a treat.

Bring your own drinks if you plan to stay for a while, and leave the buggy in the car—the steep paths, steps and uneven ground make a baby carrier the much easier option.
