A Crystal Maze style team challenge, but instead of being locked in one room trying to solve one big puzzle, you’re free to move around the building and attempt loads of different ā€œcellsā€ (challenge rooms) in any order you want.

Each cell has a task to complete, and you earn points based on how well you do.

Some cells are fast-paced and physical, while others are more brainy and involve memory, logic, teamwork, or problem-solving. Everybody can get involved, no matter what age or ability and the beauty is you can skip any cell you want and go to another one.

It’s active, it’s different, it’s packed full of challenges, and best of all it’s indoors, so even if the Belfast weather is doing what it does best, your plans won’t be ruined. And don’t worry, nobody’s actually getting locked up

There’s something for sporty kids, brainy kids, shy kids, loud kids, and like myself parents who haven’t ran since PE in 2003.

If you’re heading there with your own wee adventurers, here are a few things to help.

Wear comfy clothes, You’ll be moving about a LOT.

Trainers are a must

There’s climbing, jumping, balancing… you’ll want proper shoes.

The time flies past so I recommend the 1.5 hour booking

Prison Island Belfast is a top-tier Belfast day out. It’s the perfect mix of fun, adventure, problem-solving and energy-burning chaos.

Check out their other great activities, axe throwing and quiz boxing too

*I went here with friends as my kids are too young for this. They recommended age is for 9 and above
