Davagh forest in the heart of the Sperrin mountains.Ā From woodland walks to bike trails, play parks, and even stargazing experiences, it’s the perfect mix of adventure and fresh air.

We loved the play park here. It features slides, swings, mounds to climb, tunnels, stepping pods and a basket swing. All surfaced with rubber safety flooring and fully enclosed.

There are also many walking trails we followed the black walking trail which is short enough for wee legs. Passing the river and through the woodlands. Collecting nature treasures and playing Pooh sticks at the bridge.

Davagh is home to the OM Dark Sky Park & Observatory, one of the best places for stargazing in Northern Ireland.

Even during the day, the skypark is a really interesting place to visit, but if you can plan an evening trip, it becomes something unforgettable. Seeing the stars away from city lights is honestly a magical experience, and it’s such a unique thing to do as a family. Check out the Observatory centre where you can learn all about the dark skies it also has toilets, tea and coffee facilities and some snacks.

One of the best things about Davagh Forest is how bike-friendly it is. Whether you’ve got confident little riders, older kids ready for more of a challenge, or adults looking to properly hit the trails, there’s something for everyone. They are all graded on different abilities. If your kids love scooters, bikes, or anything with wheels, the pump track is an absolute highlight. It’s such a fun addition to the forest and keeps them entertained for ages. The great thing is it suits a range of abilities, from beginners getting the hang of it to confident riders flying around like pros

Check out of of theā€œGiants of Sperrinsā€ Part of a sculpture trail to help promote rural tourism. It’s such a cool feature and makes the forest feel even more magical, especially for children who love stories, myths, and a bit of imagination.
