Gortin Glen nestled within the Sperrin mountains with magnificent views of the surrounding area. There are 5 walking trails of various lengths.Ā  Each of the trails are colour coded and begin and end in the main car park.

We took on the Grey Trail (Pollan Trail) just over a mile long and moderately steep in places. The reward? A beautiful waterfall and peaceful views along the Pollan Burn. It’s a short walk, but one that really captures the magic of the Glen.

We also explored the Park Trail, which is ideal for younger children and buggy-friendly too. At just under a mile, it’s a gentle and enjoyable loop passing:

  • A fun trim trail

  • Wooden bridges

  • A wildlife and deer enclosure

You can also take a trek to one of theā€œGiants of Sperrinsā€ Part of a sculpture trail to help promote rural tourism.

The play facilities here are seriously impressive. There are two modern, high-quality play areas designed for different age groups, connected by a bridge.

Expect:

  • Climbing nets and multi-activity units

  • Slides, swings and pod swings

  • An in-ground trampoline

  • Sensory panels

  • Plenty of space for energetic little adventurers

It’s the kind of park where kids could easily spend hours.

If walking isn’t your thing, or you just want to see more, there’s also a stunning five-mile scenic drive around the Glen, offering spectacular views of the Sperrins at every turn.

Gortin Glen is well equipped for a full family day out. You’ll find:

  • Free car parking

  • Accessible toilets and baby changing facilities

  • A lovely on-site cafĆ©, Brie's Barista

  • A forest school offering seasonal activities

For those wanting to extend their stay, there’s even award-winning accommodation nearby at Gortin Glen Glamping.

Whether you’re planning a relaxed nature walk, a family adventure, or simply somewhere new to explore in Northern Ireland, Gortin Glen is well worth the visit.
