Full Description

Peatlands Park is a brilliant choice when you want something a little different from a normal playpark visit. The peat beneath your feet has been forming for thousands of years, and the network of paths takes you through woodland, bog and other habitats that feel like a real nature adventure.

Our favourite part is the boardwalk trail through the bog. It's lovely for little explorers, with lots to look for along the way. Keep an eye out for butterflies, moths and dragonflies, or see if the children can spot birds around the water. You might even come across signs of animals such as hares, badgers, newts or lizards, although of course wildlife sightings are never guaranteed.

There's also a playpark with climbing walls, mounds, tunnels and swings, so children can enjoy a good play before or after a walk. You may remember the miniature railway from older visits; it is not something to plan around now, although the old platform is part of the park's history. Bring a picnic and enjoy the mix of outdoor play and nature.

What You'll Find

Follow paths and boardwalk sections through the park and look out for birds, insects and bogland wildlife. The landscape feels very different from a normal town park, making even a short walk feel like an adventure.
