What You'll Find
If you're looking for a day out that combines a fantastic play park, peaceful woodland and breathtaking views, Iniscarn Forest Park is well worth adding to your Northern Ireland bucket list.
The Playpark
The fully enclosed playground is perfect for burning off some energy before or after your adventure. Children will love the zip line, slides, swings, climbing equipment, tunnels and balance features, while parents can relax knowing it's safely fenced.
Beyond the play park, a short woodland walk takes you through the trees where little explorers can discover a bug hotel, wooden tipi and plenty of nature to investigate. It's a lovely shaded walk, making it a great option on warmer days too.
For the Grown Ups
The Slieve Gallion Adventure
Many visitors stop at the play park, but if you have older children or enjoy walking, this is also one of the routes to the summit of Slieve Gallion.
The trail climbs steadily through the forest before opening onto the mountain, where you'll be rewarded with incredible panoramic views across Mid Ulster and the Sperrin Mountains. The full walk is best suited to experienced walkers and older children, as it can be around 12km return and sections become boggy after wet weather, so sturdy footwear is essential.
The Slieve Gallion Scenic Drive
If hiking isn't for your family, don't worry, you can still enjoy the views!
Instead of tackling the full mountain walk, drive around to the Slieve Gallion Scenic Drive on the opposite side of the mountain.
The winding road climbs high above the countryside, offering some of the most spectacular views in Mid Ulster. At the summit car park it's only a short walk to the top, making this a brilliant way for families with younger children to experience the mountain without the long hike.
