If you’re after a day out that blends history, gardens, hands-on activities and a little boutique browsing, then Glenarm Castle is a brilliant choice for a family adventure. Along the Causeway Coastal Route, it’s one of those special spots that truly has something for every age.


Things to see and do

This historic estate has stood here since the 1500s and is still the home of the Earls of Antrim. The castle itself looks straight out of a fairy tale, with turrets, gardens and winding paths to explore.

The Walled Garden and woodland walk is a garden adventure with colourful flowerbeds, water features and lovely tucked-away walkways.

The heritage centre is compact and easy to explore, perfect for adding a little learning into your family day out without it feeling too formal. It offers a glimpse into the history of the castle and the wider village of Glenarm.

Wee ones can get behind the wheel of mini off-road Landrovers. Tackle the bumpy track right on the castle grounds. It’s a brilliant and unique hands-on activity

There’s a lovely wooden play area on site, with a climbing wall, bridge and slideĀ  It’s great for the wee ones to burn off energy.


With some lovely shops to browse, from clothing, jewellery to antiques it’s always great to support local.


Food and drink

The Potting Shed- With hot coffee, traybakes and toasties. This is great to get your hot drink and let the wee ones play.


The Tea Room- From coffee and traybakes to proper lunch options, it’s a great refuel spot. There’s indoor and outdoor seating.


Pizza Pavillon- A fabulous outdoor pizza place. Homemade, wood-fired, and crafted on traditional sourdough basesĀ  with lots of topping choices and even a gluten free option.


The Milk Parlour – delicious gelato made with milk from the estate’s own Shorthorn herd.


Seasonal Events

Throughout the year Glenarm Castle hosts brilliant family events, from Easter trails to Halloween experiences and their popular Christmas experience.
